Hot on the heels of the recent release of the World Top 100 by Golf Digest in the United States, Australian Golf Digest has released the hotly anticipated biennial list of Australia’s Top 100 Golf Courses.
No surprises at the top with Royal Melbourne remaining at Number 1 in Australia to go along with it’s ranking of number 6 in the World, followed by Kingston Heath at Number 2. Also not surprising, but definitely newsworthy, is the debut of Cape Wickham Links on Tasmania’s King Island at Number 3 in the Top 100. What a way to start, and with King Island’s other course, Ocean Dunes, not far off full completion (15 holes now open), the chances are high that when this list comes out again in 2 years’ time, there may well be 4 Tassie courses in the Top 10 – the same number of Top 10 courses located in Melbourne’s famous Sandbelt region.
